Our Registered Physiotherapists work as an integral part of the rehabilitation team. They provide comprehensive assessments and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. A strong emphasis is placed on active rehabilitation programs, which return clients quickly and safely to their pre-injury condition.
Physiotherapists employ a variety of techniques to address each client's unique needs, including hands-on manual methods, exercise rehabilitation, biomechanical retraining, acupuncture, and thermal and electrical modalities, alongside education and personalized instruction. Sport Physiotherapy
A “Sport Physiotherapist” is a Physiotherapist who has completed the Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy through Sport Physiotherapy Canada. This designation means that the Sport Physiotherapist has completed written and practical exams, in addition to having experience working with athletes and active individuals from all backgrounds. They are also qualified to work with Canada’s High Performance athletes, be it in competition, training or rehabilitation. In addition to their orthopaedic skill set, the Sport Physiotherapist also has experience with athletic taping, protective equipment, emergency care, and developing a plan for a safe return to life and to play.
More than 350 Canadian physiotherapists have achieved the Certificate level in Sport Physiotherapy, with an additional 250+ physiotherapists holding the Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy.
The clinical leadership team and physiotherapy mentor program at Sports Medicine are led by Shannon Michels, FCAMPT Physiotherapist MClScPT, BHScPT, BScKin, FCAMPT, MCPA.
